Marlins designated INF Jose Lopez for assignment. That didn't last long. Lopez was signed on June 9 after being released by the Rockies and was called up less than a week later, but the Marlins decided they had seen enough of him after he managed just three hits in 29 at-bats. Just 27, Lopez will find another gig somewhere, but his play has dropped off rapidly the last couple seasons.
