Mark Teixeira (inflamed bronchial airways) returned to the field Sunday after missing three starts. Pinch-hitting for Eric Chavez in the ninth and facing Aroldis Chapman, Teixeira reached first on Wilson Valdez's throwing error. He was then pulled for a pinch-runner. Both Teixeira and skipper Joe Girardi said the veteran would start on Monday. "Not 100 percent, obviously, but I think it did some good and I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow," Teixeira said. "I think at this point we know we're going to have to deal with it for a little while. The days off definitely helped, and we'll see how it goes tomorrow, but I'm just going to have to play through a little discomfort for a while." Teixeira has been battling the issue all season.
