Manager Pete Mackanin said it is still a priority for him to play Goeddel as much as possible, Ryan Lawrence of the Philly Voice reports.
EDGE Analysis
Goeddel was on the bench for the fifth straight game Wednesday, so the manager's actions don't necessarily align with his statement. Mackanin said he has to play Cody Asche and wants to see Jimmy Paredes get at-bats which leaves Goeddel with a reduced role right now. Peter Bourjos, who started in right field Wednesday, is also still in the mix for at-bats, though his role has also been significantly reduced.
