Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Monday night that Arodys Vizcaino is the team's primary option at closer, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez turned to Vizcaino in the eighth inning Monday against the heart of the Nationals' order, and the right-hander responded with a scoreless frame, touching 97 mph and striking out two batters. Grilli came on for the ninth and issued a leadoff walk to Jasyon Werth, who came around to score and tie the game on a sacrifice fly to center. It sounds like Gonzalez may continue to use Vizcaino occasionally in the eighth if there's a tough part of the order due up, which would afford Grilli some opportunities, but it's now clear that he's behind Vizcaino in the pecking order for saves.
