Manager Buck Showalter is optimistic that Machado (wrist) will be able to avoid a stint on the disabled list, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

Although Machado is set to miss his third straight game Saturday due to a strained wrist, it appears that his absence could be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Ruben Tejada will get the start at third base Saturday, but Showalter's comments suggest that Machado could be back in the lineup as soon as Sunday. That said, even if Machado doesn't return for the series finale in the Bronx, he could very well be back in the lineup in the near future.
