The Seattle Mariners optioned outfielder Mallex Smith to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday and called up outfielder Braden Bishop in a corresponding move. Smith has eight steals on the season but was hitting .165/.255/.247 in 97 at-bats to begin the year and was recently moved to the bottom of the batting order.
