Pearce wasted no time getting back into the action, smacking a deep fly off Jose Quintana in his first big-league at-bat since May 14. With Justin Smoak crushing the ball (19 homers) this season, the Jays are unlikely to deploy a platoon at first base with Pearce as originally planned. That said, Ezequiel Carrera (broken foot) is in for an elongated DL stint, leaving Pearce to man left field on a regular basis until further notice.
