Making his first start of the spring, Kevin Slowey surrendered three runs in three innings Monday against the Red Sox. Slowey pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in three appearances out of the pen to earn the assignment today. He's in the running for a rotation spot, but since Wade LeBlanc is off to a fine start, Slowey's chances would seem to hinge on Jacob Turner or Nathan Eovaldi taking a big step backwards and getting demoted.
