Lavastida has made the Guardians' Opening Day roster, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Lavastida will officially serve as Cleveland's backup catcher to begin the 2022 campaign since Luke Maile (hamstring) is expected to require an IL stint early in the year. Lavastida hasn't yet made his major-league debut, but he slashed .289/.380/.456 with nine home runs, 51 RBI, 50 runs and 16 stolen bases across 84 minor-league appearances last year.
