Smith has claimed a spot on Arizona's Opening Day roster, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.

Smith was optioned to Triple-A Reno on March 20, but he'll break camp with the major-league club as a long reliever. The right-hander posted a 6.43 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with nine strikeouts in seven innings this spring and can be expected to pitch mainly in low-leverage situations.
