Vogt's recent Athletics homecoming after three-plus seasons away serves the purpose of giving Sean Murphy a quality veteran backup behind the dish and a couple of Oakland's pitchers a familiar battery mate in the process. That was the case Tuesday, with A's starter Sean Manaea throwing to Vogt for the first time since 2017. Vogt put together a solid .263 average and .804 OPS as recently as 2019 with the Giants, but this season, he'll look to bounce back from the abysmal .188/.274/.319 slash line he's produced across 104 games over the last two seasons.
