Machado wrapped up the opening month of the season slashing .224/.343/.424 with four home runs, 13 RBI and 10 runs over 85 at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
The slugger fell way short of last April's .344/.394/.667 line. In many regards, Machado's first month of 2017 was worse than any other in his career. That said, he began showing signs of life as April waned away. In his last four games, the 24-year-old went 6-for-16 with a home run, two doubles, three RBI and five runs. He's also reached base safely in 11 consecutive contests. It's a safe bet to assume May will provide more Machado-like numbers.
