Machado (knee ligament sprain) could need a DL stint before returning to action this season, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. "There will be some work he has to do to come back and play," vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Tuesday. "[Placing Machado on the DL is] under consideration. It may take some time for him to heal. Obviously we will know more [Wednesday]." He was diagnosed with a right knee ligament sprain Tuesday, but the team said more would be made clear Wednesday about Machado's status and timetable to return to the lineup. The fact that it is not definite that Machado will need a DL stint is excellent news for his owners, but obviously Wednesday will be the more telling day in terms judging his rest-of-season value.
