Machado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres' prized offseason pickup will rest for just the second time all season, paving the way for Greg Garcia to draw a start at third base. The day off will provide Machado with an opportunity to hit the reset button after a 10-game stretch in which he went 4-for-37 at the dish.
He needs to go back to Baltimore where his puny, over-rated bat can reach the bandbox left field seats...too much MLB management reminds me of some goofy Democrat falling over him/herself to grab the next shiny object without ever doing their due diligence. If they had, they would have realized his fielding among the best ever, and his stick is grossly overrated...obviously, he’s not too strong mentally either if he gets cowed by a halfway-challenging stadium.
