Starting pitchers are not expected to pitch deep into games at the start of the season, so there may be a need for multi-inning performances from the bullpen. Additionally, the low inventory of games -- 60 instead of 162 -- may prompt managers to manage games as they might during a playoff series. That means giving starters who don't have their best stuff a quick hook in a given game.
