Locke (6-5) allowed just five hits in 6.2 shutout innings while striking out three without a walk to beat the Giants on Monday.

All Locke and the Pirates needed to lock down a victory was a fifth-inning Erik Kratz solo shot. It's nice to see a rebound effort from the southpaw, who had been struggling mightily with 18 earned runs allowed in just 8.2 innings over his last two starts heading into this one. Hopefully he can use this effort as a building block to another strong game Saturday against the Dodgers.
