Lincecum has decided to accept an assignment to Triple-A, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

It was unclear as to whether Lincecum would elect free agency or accept a demotion to the minors after being designated for assignment on Saturday but it is now revealed he has chosen the latter. The 32-year-old struggled mightily in his comeback with the Angels this season, posting a 9.16 ERA and 2.37 WHIP over nine starts and unless he rediscovers how to limit baserunners and keep runs off the board, he figures to remain in the minors the rest of the season.
