Leo Nunez will not face criminal charges in the Dominican Republic for falsifying his identity. Nunez, whose real name is Juan Carlos Oviedo, revealed the case of fraud last week at the final request of his dying father. Because he came forward with the information and because he has cooperated with the investigation, the Dominican authorities have decided to take it easy on him. Whether the United States or Major League Baseball will try to prevent him from continuing his baseball career is a different story. But he's crossed one major hurdle.
