Leake was traded to Seattle on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Leake will have roughly $55 million left on his deal, and although it has yet to be determined what the parameters of the exchange are, it's expected that the Cardinals will receive some compensation or a low-level prospect in return. Throughout the course of the 2017 season, Leake has posted a 4.21 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 154 innings in 26 starts, while recording a 103:35 K:BB. During his latest start against the Rays on Saturday, the right-hander allowed four runs on six hits over seven innings. With Felix Hernandez (shoulder) and James Paxton (pectoral) on the DL for Seattle, Leake should slide right into the rotation upon his arrival, and either get a start versus the A's this weekend or appear early next week against the Astros.
