Leake gave up four runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- over seven innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Saturday. He struck out three and did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Leake was fortunate to escape with just four earned runs on his ledger -- the bases were clear for two of the homers he surrendered. The right-hander was on shaky ground in the rotation coming into Saturday, and while the Cardinals ended up winning this game, Leake's performance didn't help his case to continue on in a starting role. Jack Flaherty is a candidate to take Leake's rotation spot in September.
