Taylor signed a two-year, $9 million contract extension with the Royals on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In his first season in Kansas City, Taylor has been a decent back-end fantasy contributor with a .244 average, 14 home runs and 14 stolen bases, but his 79 wRC+ has made him less than productive at the dish from a real-life standpoint. Kansas City still deemed Taylor worthy of an extension largely due to his elite defense in center field; the 30-year-old currently ranks first among all outfielders this season in Outs Above Average, Defensive Runs Saved and Ultimate Zone Rating. He'll likely take home his first Gold Glove Award this offseason.
