Lagares (thumb) was taken out of the lineup Tuesday due to a toothache, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

The slick-fielding outfielder has been battling through a painful thumb injury of late, but according to Ehalt, Lagares was on the initial lineup card Tuesday prior to coming down with a toothache. While it's disappointing for Lagares owners that he's out of the lineup again Tuesday, it's encouraging that his thumb was healthy enough for him to be penciled in as a starter for the Mets' series opener against the Pirates. He figures to rejoin the lineup in the near future once his dental issue is resolved.
