Lagares (oblique) is beginning his rehab assignment Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The current plan is for Lagares to play in minor-league games Monday and Wednesday before returning to the big club by the end of the weekend. Once he's activated from the DL, Lagares is expected to return to his role as a reserve option in the Mets' outfield.
