Kyle Gibson delivered a second consecutive strong outing on Friday, allowing just one run on five hits over 6 1/3 innings to defeat the Royals and improve to 2-0. The once highly-touted prospect walked four and struck out three on the night. The only damage against him came on an RBI ground out off the bat of Billy Butler in the first inning. Gibson now owns a 1.59 ERA through his first two starts, but a troublesome 1.41 WHIP and 6/8 K/BB ratio through 11 1/3 innings. He could be worth a gamble for next week's home start against the Blue Jays, but don't assume that he's completely figured things out just yet.
