Kimbrel took the loss Tuesday, giving up one run on a hit and two walks after entering a tie game in the ninth inning against the A's. He issued a two-out walk to Billy Burns, who stole second and scored on a single up the middle by Eric Sogard, so the run was pretty cheap. That said, one would hope Kimbrel would throw strikes to a guy like Burns, who is unlikely to hit one over the fence. Despite his struggles, Kimbrel's job as the Padres' closer should be safe, given his track record and what San Diego gave up to get him.
