It was reported earlier Friday that Kiermaier suffered a fracture in his hip stemming from sliding into first bag Thursday night. The Rays have now officially placed the centerfielder on the disabled list while calling up Mallex Smith from Triple-A Durham to provide outfield depth. Kiermaier will miss at least two months with the injury and is unlikely to return before the middle of August.
