Kevin Gregg blew his third save of the season by allowing a run on three hits and three walks on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
He required 40 pitches to complete the appearance and may need Thursday off, which might give James Russell or Pedro Strop a save chance in the next 24 hours. In the ninth, Gregg gave up two singles, a walk and a Cody Ross sacrifice fly that sent the game into extra-innings. In the tenth, Gregg loaded the bases and wriggled free from the jam. Gregg, who has allowed 10 runs over his last 13 appearances to spike his ERA from 0.77 to 2.89, is regressing right in front of our eyes.
