Kevin Gregg apologized to Theo Epstein, Dale Sveum, the Cubs organization and to the members of the media in the press box on Friday, for voicing his displeasure on Friday. Apparently, it was one big misunderstanding. Gregg though that he was being replaced as the team's closer, which irked the veteran right-hander after how well he's pitched this season. What they are actually doing, is using the last few games to get a look at Pedro Strop in the ninth inning to see how he responds, not simply booting Gregg out of the role. Gregg also noted that Epstein is a "smart man" and wouldn't have a knee-jerk reaction like Gregg did. We'll see how it plays out on Saturday, but it sounds like he may avoid the guillotine.
