Kendrick will start Monday's Grapefruit League game against Baltimore, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kendrick's 1.50 ERA in 18 spring innings (16 strikeouts) has grabbed some headlines in light of recent injuries to David Price (elbow) and Drew Pomeranz (triceps). His start Monday is being viewed as an audition for a rotation spot Opening Day. If the Red Sox are thinking at all about having both Price and Pomeranz begin April on the disabled list, Kendrick's is the clear choice. He's far out-pitched any other possible candidate (Henry Owens, Brian Johnson, Roenis Elias) and would need an injury not to be the first to move into the rotation.
