Rosenthal confirms that the Cubs have indeed received calls on Byrd, with the Nationals, Braves and Phillies as potential fits, but he sees a midseason changing of the guard to Brett Jackson as more likely. The 34-year-old is owed $6.5 million, so the Cubs will likely have to cover most of his remaining salary in order to get anything of value in return.
