Kelley was placed on the 10-day DL on Friday with a lower-back strain, retroactive to May 2, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.

Kelley was said to be unavailable in recent days, but that was due to illness -- this back issue is apparently new. While he will be eligible to return as soon as May 12, it's uncertain if Kelley will be ready by that date. With Koda Glover (hip) still out, it appears the Nats will be forced to with some combination of Joe Blanton, Enny Romero and Blake Treinen in the later innings.
