Kalish may be called up from Triple-A Iowa if Matt Szczur (hamstring) is placed on the disabled list, CSN Chicago's Patrick Mooney reports.
EDGE Analysis
Szczur had an MRI on Tuesday, and Kalish's agent sent out a tweet that strongly suggests the transaction will occur. After sitting out of professional baseball last season, the 28-year-old Kalish appears poised to play in the majors for the first time since 2014. He never had much luck against big-league pitching in his previous stints, but he does own a .368/.471/.509 slash line for Triple-A Iowa through 70 plate appearances this season. With Jason Heyward (wrist) merely day-to-day, Kalish doesn't figure to get more than two or three starters per week.
