Junis walked a pair -- one of which was intentional -- and struck out two over a scoreless inning to earn his first career victory Monday in Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old right-hander picked up the win just hours after being recalled Tuesday. Junis danced around a leadoff walk like a veteran, suggesting he's ready to handle himself in the bigs. After the second batter of the 11th inning laid down a successful sacrifice bunt, Junis intentionally walked Corey Dickerson to set up a potential double play. Rather than induce a grounder, the rookie proceeded to strike out two of the Rays' most dangerous hitters -- Brad Miller and Evan Longoria. Whether Junis sticks around remains to be seen, but it's likely the organization would rather continue developing him as a starter at Triple-A Omaha than work out of the Royals bullpen.
