Juan Lagares went 2-for-3 with a double as the Mets' No. 9 hitter against the Nationals on Friday. Ideally, Lagares would show enough improvement this year to emerge as the Mets' leadoff hitter. However, it doesn't look like the team has much intention of giving him a try there this spring. If Lagares manages to outplay Eric Young Jr. and hold on to his starting job, then he'll probably bat seventh or eighth, with Chris Young potentially leading off.
