Jose Tabata (oblique) could be activated from the disabled list Wednesday.
Tabata is hitting .179 (5-for-28) with one double and one stolen base in nine rehab games with Triple-A Indianapolis, but the important part is that he's feeling good. "There was no re-injury," said Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. "He was able to move forward, get at-bats, play the outfield, run the bases, bunt, attempt to steal. Those types of things." The 24-year-old outfielder has been on the disabled list since May 27 with a strained left oblique.
