Jose Alvarez struggled in a spot start against the Marlins on Friday, surrendering three runs on two hits in just 2 2/3 innings. Alvarez also issued a pair of walks and struck out three. He departed with the bases loaded in the third inning, giving way to Rick Porcello who was greeted with a three-run double from Giancarlo Stanton. The 24-year-old southpaw wraps up his rookie season with a 5.82 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 31/16 K/BB ratio in 38 2/3 innings. He's likely to make the Tigers postseason roster as a left-handed reliever.
