Jose Alvarez pitched five innings of two-run ball Thursday in a no-decision against the Red Sox. Alvarez has been excellent making a couple of spot starts in Anibal Sanchez's place. The Tigers might have saved themselves a lot of hassle if they just stuck with him last week and didn't try to rush Sanchez back.
