Jorge Posada is expected to formally announce his retirement at Yankee Stadium early this week, likely Tuesday, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. New York's plans regarding Posada didn't change when they shipped young designated hitter Jesus Montero to the Mariners and the lifelong Yankee didn't find an enticing offering elsewhere. The 40-year-old, a five-time All-Star, has a .273 lifetime batting average over 17 major league seasons to go along with 1,664 hits, 275 home runs and 1,065 RBI. He won four World Series rings.
