Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that while the Red Sox haven't discussed a new contract with David Ortiz, they are confident they will be able to re-sign him. Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston recently heard from a source that Ortiz was "hurt" at the lack of contract talks. The veteran slugger asked for a multi-year contract last winter, but the Red Sox simply picked up his $12.5 million option. While Ortiz is batting .295/.383/.546 with 22 homers and a .929 OPS this season, the Red Sox will likely continue to try to go year-to-year.
