The Rangers selected Hicks' contract Tuesday from Triple-A Round Rock.

Hicks will serve as the backup catcher while Jose Trevino (forearm) misses a few days. He's hit .264 with three home runs and 17 RBI in 110 minor-league at-bats this year, and, if he gets any playing time, will make his first big-league appearance since 2019 with the Tigers.
