Whitefield was added to the Twins' 60-man player pool Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Whitefield will give the Twins added depth this season, though it's very unlikely that he makes his big-league debut this year. The 23-year-old hit a poor .220/.279/.328 in 81 games for High-A Fort Myers last season and a considerably worse .137/.174/.176 in 31 games for Double-A Pensacola, though he did at least steal a combined 30 bases.
