Johan Santana (shoulder) is expected to begin his minor league rehab assignment Saturday with High-A St. Lucie. He is slated to throw either two innings or 40 pitches. This will be his first game action since being shut down in late July with discomfort in his surgically-repaired shoulder. The Mets still haven't ruled out the possibility that he could pitch an inning or two in the major leagues before the end of the season.
