Joel Pineiro will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a SLAP tear in the labrum in his right shoulder. SLAP is an acronym that stands for "superior labrum from anterior to posterior." Doctors also plan to take a look at his rotator cuff, so there could be even more damage. Pineiro was pitching at Triple-A in hopes to work his way back to the majors, but the surgery will shut him down for the rest of the year.
