Joe McDonald of ESPNBoston.com was told by a league source that talks between the Red Sox and Mets regarding left-hander Chris Capuano are "dead." John Tomase of the Boston Herald reported earlier in the day that the Red Sox made a play for Capuano this week in hopes of having him pitch Sunday against the Yankees. However, the two sides were unable to come to a satisfactory agreement, so Capuano will finish the season as a member of the Mets.
