Joe Mauer (oblique) took batting practice on the field without incident Wednesday. Mauer is slowly but surely recovering from an oblique strain that's kept him out since July 2. He'll likely need a short rehab assignment before being activated, but the 31-year-old appears on track for a return in the first few weeks of August.
