Joe Kelly was hurt by a poor defensive effort behind him in Sunday's loss to the Brewers as he surrendered six runs (three earned) on seven hits over seven frames. Kelly walked a pair and struck out two on the night. Three defensive miscues by the Cardinals led to three unearned runs, directly resulting in Kelly being handed his fifth loss of the season. The 25-year-old right-hander has pitched very well for the Cardinals this season, posting a 9-5 record, 2.73 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 74/44 K/BB ratio over 118 2/3 innings. He'll look to wrap up the regular season on a high note when he does battle against the Cubs at home on Saturday.
