Joe Blanton has retired from professional baseball. The 33-year-old right-hander was released by the Angels at the end of spring training and had been pitching for the A's Triple-A affiliate. He finishes with a career 85-89 record, 4.51 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 1086/412 K/BB ratio.
