Jimmy Rollins went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts as the Phillies fell to the Nationals 8-4 on Wednesday.
The golden sombrero was the first in his 15-year career spanning 2,006 games. Rollins, like many Phillies, hasn't had much success at the plate lately. Since May 25, he had a .447 OPS in 45 plate appearances dating back to May 25. The shortstop has been drawing plenty of walks, but otherwise hasn't had much to write home about on the season, slashing .246/.347/.386. One wonders if he would be willing waive his 10-and-5 rights to be traded to a contending team once he acquires nine more hits to surpass Mike Schmidt for the most career hits in Phillies history.
