Jimenez is expected to be added to the Red Sox's active roster Monday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports. Manager John Farrell said he envisioned Jimenez -- who was plucked off waivers from the Brewers on Sunday -- as a utility infielder capable of seeing action at first, second, and third base. While he doesn't figure to see regular at-bats in a deep Red Sox lineup, his versatility will give the team a little more depth in the infield, where Brock Holt was previously the only player capable of defending three or more spots.
