Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly reports that the Phillies are in "serious discussions" with free agent outfielder Juan Pierre regarding a minor league contract. Pierre has evidently given up on finding a regular job somewhere, as he wouldn't appear to be in line for much playing time in Philly, especially after Ryan Howard returns. The 34-year-old batted .279/.329/.327 with two homers, 50 RBI and a .657 OPS over 711 plate appearances in 2011 and also went a career-worst 27-for-44 in stolen base attempts.
